Topping the list of New Year’s Resolutions again is weight loss – the same topic regularly brought up my clients during their Permanent Makeup procedures! I’ve heard all about each of the fad diets, commercial programs, surgeries and home-grown starvation plans. And I have no advice for fool-proof, rapid weight loss, since I too have been perplexed by this complicated game for years. What I can offer are a few observations I’ve made and my own hope-filled resolutions for a lighter future:

1. I resolve to copy the habits of the happy, skinny people I know. At the top of my list is my sister in-love, who I’ve been stalking recently – she closely monitors her caloric intake, walks regularly and eats the things she enjoys in moderation.
2. I resolve to make little changes to what I’m already doing. I’ve recently been highly inspired by the principles in Jeff Olsen’s book, The Slight Edge.
3. I resolve to love my body just the way it is! When I scan the people I’ve known the longest, I’ve noticed that their bodies stay in just about the same shape and size year after year – it’s time to accept what is… because what we resist, persists!
